How long does the process usually take?
In short, the process takes between 2 and 4 visits.
Our process consists of 3 steps:
1. Evaluation of the Problem Areas (Consultation & Estimate) - Completed in one visit, and requires client's input.
2. Repair and Restoration Work - Depending on the scale of the project, this step takes anywhere from one to three visits. Most cases require only one visit.
3. *If required; Touch-up visit. Completed in order to eliminate all sound, in our ability.
Do the squeaks disappear completely?
Our process and technology will guarantee a measurable difference in sound. We have full confidence that we can eliminate 95% of your squeaky floors and reduce the severity of the remaining 5%.
As confident as we are in our process, we have to be careful with statements that claim perfect results. We hope that our clients' testimonials will give you further confidence in our results.
Would I notice a difference, from before and after?
Yes, after we finish work, you will notice that your floor feels sturdier and makes no more noise than your actual footsteps.
Is the silence permanent?
The 'squeak fix' is a permanent solution to the specific squeaky area that the process is applied to, and should outlast the floor itself. In most cases, we will warranty the specified squeaky areas for a full year.
Please review our warranty, here.
Our process does not however, prevent new squeaks from forming in the vicinity of the fixed floor area. It is worth mentioning though, that from our experience, fixing one area of floor helps prevent other squeaks from forming.
How do I know whether I should silence my floor or replace it?
Either answer is correct. As much as we would appreciate working with you, some situations call for a complete floor replacement.
If the following situations apply to you, Silent Floor Solutions is RIGHT for you:
+ You have heritage floors, or have floors with sentimental value
+ Your floor is brand new, it squeaks, and it makes no sense to replace it
+ Your house value is not as high as it could be, because a few spots of the floor squeak loudly
+ Your lifestyle cannot accommodate major renovations, you need a quick and clean solution
+ Allergies or health reasons do not allow you to renovate and raise dust
+ For environmental reasons, you know that replacing your floor will create too much waste and will require a lot of new resources
+ Noise is coming from a specific patch of floor, and is bothering you
+ All previous attempts to silence your floor have not lasted
What kind of work is required to prepare the space for the squeak fix?
The client should clear the floor surface of loose items as well as furniture that obstructs the floor surface. We also appreciate a clear path to the area of work. There is no more preparation than that.
Does the work affect the way my floor looks?
Our process does involve drilling openings directly through the surface of the floor. These openings are very small, and are filled after work is complete. On wood, it's nearly impossible to notice the result of the work, while on carpet it is completely invisible.
During the consultation, we bring samples of floor finishes to reassure you of the final surface appearance.
Is there any demolition or disruption to the existing structure?
No. All work will be done with existing structure and existing flooring, none of which will be removed or replaced. Most of the time we don't even need to move your furniture!
What process does Silent Floor Solutions use to silence floor squeaks?
We completely understand that our clients want to know what we do to their floors, however, the exact process cannot be revealed in detail, as it is patent pending. At the same time, we are able to summarize the process as follows:
We diagnose the cause of the squeak using an array of methods. Determine the correct approach to applying the restoration process. We mark and drill small openings in the determined areas. Apply a specially formulated material through the openings. Then we fill the openings to match the floor surface. We then check to insure the process has been completed successfully.
